Learn by Doing

Welcome from the Principal
“At our school, we encourage gratitude in our students, always aim high and learn by doing in every aspect of our curriculum.”
-Dean Napier

Respect
We show kindness, empathy and compassion to ourselves and others. We look after and value our school environment, as well as celebrate our individuality.

Gratitude
We are thankful and show appreciation for the opportunities we have to learn and be part of a collaborative community.

Resilience
We show resilience by managing our emotions and bouncing back. We acknowledge feelings that may challenge us, and actively seek strategies that help us move forward with a positive, growth mindset.

Personal Best
We take pride in ourselves and everything that we do. We demonstrate our personal best by engaging in every endeavour, no matter how challenging, with a growth mindset. We identify our strengths and establish goals with a focus on ‘where to next?’.

Teamwork
We demonstrate teamwork by collaborating and supporting each other to achieve a common goal. We participate actively by attentively listening, compromising and putting in our best individual effort to help the team.
Aim High
Our Motto, “Aim High”, describes our school’s aspirational goals as we dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of excellence, as a community of learners.
We have a strong academic focus where students are active and responsible participants in their own learning through a broad range of experiences.
We provide a safe and supportive environment with high expectations, which empowers students to develop into successful 21st Century Learners.

Our School
After School Activities and
Community Involvement
Our school thrives because of our community, and for that we are incredibly grateful.
Wondering how to get involved? Take a look at some of our community initiatives,
for students and parents/carers alike.
Hughesdale Primary School is accredited under the Department of Education’s CRICOS registration (CRICOS provider name and code: Department of Education, 00861K).

Parents & Friends
A school is only as strong as its community, and at the heart of Hughesdale Primary’s community is our Parents & Friends Committee.
Fully run by volunteers, P&F run fundraising events and social events throughout the calendar year for the entire school community.
Want to get involved? Send an email to hps.pf.team@gmail.com
School Council
School Council plays a key role in the operation of Hughesdale Primary School. Participating as a School Council member is a rewarding and challenging experience. Council supports the principal to provide the best possible educational outcomes for students.
Buddy Program
Creating connections within our community, and fostering a strong sense of belonging for all students is a core element of our wellbeing program at Hughesdale Primary School.
One way we foster this is by robustly using our Buddy Program for all students in Foundation/Prep and Year 6. This partnership is formed during transition sessions before students even commence the school year, and it facilitates important relationships with peers and student mentors from the very first day of school.
Extracurricular Activities
We are pleased to share with our community the range of extra-curricular programs we make available utilising external providers. We aim for our students to have access to and appreciate the positive effects of participating in extra-curricular activities and so remain dedicated to the provision of learning experiences that are of an exceptionally high quality.
